We're back!

The Creative Arts Spectacular is back, as promised, for 2012!

The team have already made a start, dreaming and scheming to put together another fabulous event.

This year's Gala Evening and Family Fun Day will be held at Wooloowin State School, on September 15th and 16th respectively.

Stay tuned to this site, or join our Facebook group - Creative Arts Spectacular - to keep up to date with what's happening.

We look forward to seeing you there!

WE'LL BE BACK IN 2012

We are now a BIENNIAL event!!!

The committee of Wooloowin's Creative Arts Spectacular have had two wonderful years of fundraising, fun and a bit of frivolity, and lots of art, Art, ART!!!  Thanks to our donors, sponsors, supporters and school community, this event has proven to be a great success.

However, so as not to ask too much of all of those involved, our Creative Arts Spectacular will now be held ONCE EVERY TWO YEARS.  Stay tuned for the announcement of details for 2012's big event!

Meanwhile, please feel free to check out last year's art, click on the links to our wonderful sponsors, and if you want to be involved in 2012's event in any way, please contact the blogger at creative.arts.spectacular@gmail.com and we'll keep you up to date.

AND THE WINNER IS......

......Tracey Potter!!!

Congratulations to Tracey on winning our first prize from Gallery 2120!

There was some stiff competition, it's true!  But there could be only one winner....

This is the fabulous piece with which Tracey won the prize.  It's entitled "It's a Matter of Perspective No.3".

We were very excited that Tracey was at the Gala evening to meet the judges and receive her prize!

Thanks to Tracey and all the other wonderful artists for entering their artworks, and making the 2010 Creative Arts Spectacular a very special event.

(Watch this space to see our second and third place winners, and the winner of the People's Choice award.)

Get your tickets for the Gala for a chance to bid on this and other live auction items!!!

Robert Kerswell "Ample Parking"

Here's a little bit about the piece, in the words of the artist:

"It was painted in 2008, and was a turning point style wise for my work. Inspired by the work of Jeffrey Smart, this piece is the first of my streetscapes, and one of the first times I experimented with altering a scene to change the composition of the painting, having previously aimed to paint scenes exactly as they looked. The car park itself does exist across the street from the Sofitel in town. Some of the graffiti Tags also exist in Brisbane, very prolifically along the buildings which border the train lines. "Ample Parking" expresses the quietness of the post morning peak hour after the people rushing to work on foot or in their cars has ground to an end. The lone figure crosses what an hour earlier was a busy city street, while the morning shadows stretch across the deserted road and footpaths. "

And even MORE live auction donations!

We are extremely lucky to have so many wonderful and generous artists supporting our event.  Here are more artworks that will go to AUCTION on 11 September at our Gala Evening.  Make sure you are there so that you can bid and perhaps bag a bargain!

CAS at Lutwyche Centro

A few of our dedicated team gave up part of their precious weekend to promote our fabulous event at our local shopping centre!

Thanks to all those who stopped by to say hi and buy tickets for the Gala Evening on Saturday September 11.  We look forward to seeing you there, or at The Family Fun Day on Sunday September 12!

BARGAINS to be had!!!

We are extremely lucky to have many well-known and extremely talented artists making donations to this year's Creative Arts Spectacular. (see the list above)

At Saturday night's Gala Opening, we will be holding a LIVE AUCTION.  This is the place to pick up a potential bargain.  Some images of the donated works can be found here on our site, but of course the best option is to come along and see the items in the flesh, and then make a bid!

Last year many of our patrons walked away with some fabulous art for an ABSOLUTE STEAL!!!

Remember: most of the art displayed at the Creative Arts Spectacular is FOR SALE; some by established artists at our live auction, and some by the fantastic entrants in our Emerging Artist Competition.

There's plenty from which to choose, at great prices.  Don't miss out.....
